Day 24

“All About Me” page

Tip

You have valuable insight about your child that can be helpful for your child’s teacher. For example, you know what makes your child nervous and excited and ways to hold their attention for longer periods of time.

Go ahead and jot down a few things you think your child’s teacher should know about your child and keep the running list on the refrigerator in case you think of more things over the next few weeks. Give it to your child’s teacher on back-to-school night or send it along with your child on the first day of school.

Tool

Here are some example prompts for your child’s “All About Me Page”:

  1. My child’s strengths are …
  2. My child learns best by …
  3. My child gets nervous when …
  4. My child calms down when …
  5. The number one thing I want my child to learn this year is …
  6. I want you to know this about our family …
  7. The best way to reach me is …
  8. I would love to support your classroom by … (e.g. volunteering, preparing materials, playing a musical instrument for the class)

Community Connection

Today your connection action step is to make a list of important items your child’s teacher should know. Look at the example prompts under “tool” to get you thinking.

Place the paper in your child’s backpack and take it to orientation night or go ahead and send it to the teacher if you already know their contact information.
