Day 27

Grouping and Rhyming

Tip

A BIG part of learning for your kindergartener will be understanding how things are grouped together and what words rhyme. You can find ways to incorporate this into everyday activities, especially at the grocery store and cleaning the house.

For example, when you are in the bread aisle at the grocery store, see if your child can tell you how the items are grouped together. For rhyming, ask your child “what rhymes with …” and challenge them to come up with as many words as they can.

Tool

Community Connection

Were you able to visit the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum? If not, here’s another opportunity!

Discover with your child how different musical instruments, and even the museum exhibits themselves, are organized into groups.

Admission to the museum is free for children ages 5 and under. The HOF is partnering with OK Go! to offer a discounted rate of $10 for adults.

The HOF is located downtown at 311 W 2nd Street. Come for a visit before August 8 – Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. – closed Mondays.
