Day 2

Let them pick their outfits

Tip

Independence leads to confidence. Allowing your little ones to practice picking out their clothes and getting dressed alone is a great way to build those self-confidence skills. If you want to have some coordination in their outfits—you pick out the bottoms and let them choose between 3 shirts, socks, and underwear. Remember to praise efforts “WOW! You picked that out all by yourself. I’m proud of you for trying so hard to do things on your own.”

Tool

Do you need help with buying back-to-school clothes, supplies, or other basic needs? Your local Family Resource Youth Center is available to help you locate clothing and other basic supplies. Check out these lists of FRYSC emails and phone numbers for each elementary school. View a full directory of Daviess County and Owensboro Public Schools FRYSC.

Community Connection

You never know when you might need support from your school’s Family Resource and Youth Services Center (FRYSC). Today we challenge you to send a quick email to your FRYSC introducing yourself. Let them know if you have clothes, learning materials or other supplies to donate or if you have personal needs they might be able to address.
